An expensive lesson!

So we’ve been using re-chargeable toothbrushes for years & yet again our’s has worn itself out so time for a new 1.

Oh wow did you see the advert for the *** toothbrush? That looks good. Yeah they’ve got it in Argos half price reduced to £89.99!

Ok it’s state of the art with wireless technology telling you how long you’ve been brushing, if your brushing too hard & where you should be brushing at what time during the 2 minute cycle! I think the only thing it can’t do is cook your dinner!

So I put it on charge & opened the 3 toothbrush heads in the box ………… ok that was the 1st thing that puzzled me as there are usually 4 heads in the box, so I checked further & realised they were all different heads for different purposes. A sensitive, a 3D whitening & a floss action head.

Now all the previous re-chargeable’s we’ve brought have included 4 heads yet this seems to be a single person toothbrush! OMG we’ve just paid out nearly £90 & we’ve got to share heads???? Your kidding.

I checked on the net & for 4 extra heads (all of the same sort so the get the 3 different one’s we’d need to buy another 3 packs!) at around £12 a pack so that’s another £36 for the heads we’d need! Wow that 1 hell of an expensive toothbrush!

I contacted the company via their webpage to complain about the fact that nowhere on the product information does it state that it is only for a single user & got this reply

Thank you for your e-mail and suggestion for our product.

We are constantly looking for ways to improve our products to meet the needs and preferences of customers and your comments will help us with our research.

I am also sorry for any disappointment that has been caused.

Thank you again for getting in touch.

My reply to this :
I take it that you just send an automated message out & not actually read them!!!

Within 40 mins this reply had been sent back to me :-

Hi Vanessa and thanks for your email.

I am sorry that you are disappointed with your purchase of our *************. It’s hard to give you a full reply without additional details. I think, in the circumstances, it would be best if we could talk to you. I would therefore ask that you call us on our freephone number: ************ between the hours of 9.00 and 5.00, Monday to Friday where one of our advisors will be available to take your call.

If it is not possible for you to phone us, we would be happy to call you. If you let me have a note of your number and a convenient contact time within office hours one of the team will be happy to get in touch with you.

I look forward to hearing from you soon

Kind regards,

Gemma

So tomorrow I will ring them & try to sort this out. There is no way we would have spent that sort of money when for £10 less we could’ve had one that didn’t sing & dance but just brushed your teeth & we didn’t need to spend anymore money to buy the heads!

Argos were having a promotion that ended today for a £5 voucher if you spent £50 or £10 if you spent £100, so in actual fact I could’ve spent the extra £10 & got a set of heads & the used my £10 voucher to buy another set. Then we would’ve been only 1 set short.
Although the holder they give with the base unit only actually holds 4 heads so not sure where you put the others  when not in use!

Unless a toothbrush is faulty you can’t get a refund on it so I couldn’t even take it back & buy a cheaper 1.

Lesson learned, buy bog standard tooth brushes & change them more often!!

I’ll let you know how I get on after i’ve rang them tomorrow!!!

I have removed all details of the company as they have a right of reply before I name them, but if they don’t sort this out to my satisfaction they WILL be named !!!!
