Slow Cooker Recipe – Mulled Wine

By Susan K Mann.

A bottle of red wine. (on this occasion I used Echo Falls)
A small orange, cut into segments. I also added in some of the peel.
1 Cinnamon Stick.
1 tsp mixed spice. (or more if want it spicier)
4 Star Anise.
10 Cloves. (Less if you aren’t that keen on the taste)

Added all the ingredients into the slow cooker, stirred and cooked on high for 1 hour then low for 3 hours. Or keep it on low until you want to serve it.

I then drained the wine of the fruit, peel, star anise, cinnamon stick and cloves. The fruit you can eat, it is a delicious snack. You can also add in some chopped apple.

Serve the wine in a heat proof glass, I still always stick a metal spoon in when pouring. Habit I guess but was always taught that’s what to do when pouring hot liquid into glass, saves it shattering. You can add in some of the fruit and spices to the glass for decoration and serve. Best served warm.
